Sugar Land officials are hosting a community focus group July 23 to gather input for the city’s five-year tourism and sports tourism plans.

The plans aim to explore the city’s economic input from tourism and to shape the city’s future as a sports hub for youth, amateur and professional events, according to a July 8 Facebook post by Visit Sugar Land.

The context

Interested parties, including residents, business owners and guests, are invited to share their thoughts on how the city can become a “premier destination” from 10:30-11:30 a.m. July 23 at Seafood City Supermarket, located at 15237 Hwy. 59, Sugar Land, per the post.

Those interested in attending should RSVP to [email protected].

In case you missed it

Sugar Land City Council approved a $395,000 partnership with real estate consultant Hunden Partners in May, Community Impact reported. The plan will deliver targeted recommendations for:
  • Tourism development
  • Facility improvements
  • Event recruitment
  • Strategic positioning
The plans are a part of the city’s larger strategic plan for 2025-27, which was approved by City Council in February, city officials said.

Going forward

The plan is expected to take 10 months to complete, city officials previously said.
